Maria – Jesu moder var en ordinær kvinde som havde et ekstraordinært kald.
Den bibelske beretning om Maria er en beretning om en meget modig og fast og stærk ung kvinde. Men sine valg og sit liv bliver Maria et eksempel på, hvordan der må kæmpes for retfærdighed, hvad det betyder at håbe og stole på Gud, hvordan og hvad det koster at slå følgeskab med Jesus Kristus. Som gudsmoderen har hun haft en særlig rolle i Jesu liv og sandsynligvis også for hans tjeneste.
Maria – Jesu moder har i mange år været skjult for os protestanter, hvorimod katolikkerne ser Maria som deres vigtigste helgen. Måske er det på tide at vi genopdager og lader Maria tale til os.
